TFS Integration
Clockwork can integrate with TFS to update the “Effort” fields associated with a TFS Task. How this integration works depends on the “template” the TFS task is based on.
If the TFS task is based on a template that exposes a single “Remaining Work” field then Clockwork will add or subtract the duration of a ticket from the “Remaining Work” field.
If the TFS task is based on a template that exposes “Original Estimate,” “Remaining,” and “Completed” then Clockwork will add/subtrack the duration of a ticket from the “Remaining” field, then update the “Completed” field by subtracting “Remaining” from “Original Estimate.”
Note: Clockwork will never change the “Original Estimate”, but it could be changed in TFS. A user should only change the “Original Estimate” in TFS with approval of the Project Manager. When it is changed they must also update the “Remaining” and “Completed” fields, or wait for the next Clockwork ticket to be submitted to update the values based on the new estimate.
For this feature to work the following must occur:
- A TFS server must be associated with a Project (managed by system administrators)
- Each employee must create a Personal Access Token in TFS for each TFS Server used by Projects they work on (click here for instructions)
- When entering a Ticket the employee must enter a Work Item number that is in TFS
